Strunote Terms of Use

Version 1.2 · Established: October 11, 2026 · Last updated: October 11, 2026 · Effective: October 11, 2026

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Strunote mobile application (“App”) provided by Hinomaru Labs (“Operator”). The App is offered on the condition that these Terms form part of your agreement with the Operator. You agree to these Terms by selecting an acceptance control that refers to them, or by beginning to use the App after you have been shown a notice that these Terms apply and given an opportunity to review them. If you do not agree, do not begin using the App.

Strunote is a notes application for one person's use, including everyday note-taking, development, and business work. Feature availability depends on the version of the App you use. The acquisition and use of the App may also be subject to the terms and policies of Google, an advertising provider, or another applicable third party.

1. Eligibility

You may use the App only if you have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms. If you are a minor, you must obtain the consent of a parent or legal guardian before using the App. You are responsible for obtaining and maintaining, at your own expense, a compatible device, the operating system, and any network connection needed for features that use a network.

2. License and Intellectual Property

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, the Operator grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and non-sublicensable license to use the App for your own note-taking and organization, including personal, development, professional, and internal business purposes.

All rights not expressly granted are reserved by the Operator or the applicable rightsholder. Copyrights, trademarks, and other intellectual property rights in the App belong to the Operator or the applicable rightsholder; no such rights are transferred to you. Notes, files, and other content you create or attach remain yours or the applicable rightsholder's. Using the App does not transfer ownership of that content to the Operator.

3. User Responsibility and Your Data

You are responsible for the accuracy, lawfulness, and management of the information you handle through the App, including notes, tables, code, images, attachments, and links. You must have the rights and permissions needed to use that content. You are responsible for securing your device and for complying with any confidentiality, employer, client, or other obligations applicable to your content.

The App is designed to store notes and attachments on your device. Ordinary note-taking does not require an account with the Operator. The Operator does not operate a server that receives the contents of your notes or attachments. Data may be lost when you uninstall the App, lose or replace your device, or experience a device or software failure.

If the version you use offers Google Drive synchronization, it is optional and operates only after you connect your Google account and grant the required permission. Relevant notes and attachments may then be stored and synchronized through your own Google Drive under Google's terms and policies. Synchronization may reflect edits and deletions on other connected devices; it is not an independent backup. Availability, timing, storage limits, and synchronization behavior may depend on Google, your account, your device, and network conditions.

If the version you use offers export, you may save Markdown notes and attachments together in a ZIP file to a destination you choose. You are responsible for protecting exported files and any copies you share. Compatibility with another application's Markdown, attachment, or link handling is not guaranteed. Export does not by itself provide a way to import the file back into the App or restore all App settings and history.

You are responsible for keeping independent copies of content important to you and for checking exported files before relying on them. The App is not a guaranteed archival or disaster-recovery service.

4. Prohibited Conduct

You must not:

  • violate applicable law, public order, or these Terms;
  • infringe the rights or interests of the Operator or any third party;
  • copy, modify, adapt, distribute, sell, lease, or publicly transmit the App without authorization;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable law;
  • bypass, disable, interfere with, or misuse access-control, licensing, or security functions;
  • gain or attempt to gain unauthorized access, introduce malicious code, impose an excessive load, or otherwise interfere with the App or related services;
  • remove or alter a copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notice; or
  • resell the App or sublicense access to it without the Operator's prior written permission.

These restrictions on distributing the App do not restrict your lawful use, export, or sharing of your own notes and other content.

5. Advertising and Third-Party Services

The App's advertising model uses banner advertisements. The App does not offer subscriptions, paid features, or in-app purchases. Core note-taking and organization do not depend on an advertisement being available or displayed. Notes, titles, folder names, search terms, and attachment contents are not included in advertising requests.

Advertising providers may process device and technical information as described in the Hinomaru Labs Privacy Policy and their own terms and privacy policies. Displaying an advertisement does not constitute the Operator's endorsement, control, or guarantee of an advertiser, advertised product or service, or linked third-party service.

Google Play, Google Drive where supported, advertising, and other third-party services are outside the Operator's control. Their availability, operation, terms, account requirements, and specifications may change.

6. Privacy

The handling of information in connection with the App is governed by the Hinomaru Labs Privacy Policy. The provisions for a particular feature or third-party service apply only where the version of the App you use provides that feature or uses that service.

7. Changes, Suspension, and Termination of the App

The Operator may add, change, restrict, suspend, or discontinue features, specifications, designs, advertisements, supported environments, availability, or support relating to the App.

The Operator may suspend or discontinue all or part of the App when reasonably necessary for maintenance, incidents, security concerns, third-party service issues, legal or marketplace requirements, or other operational reasons. The Operator does not guarantee continued availability, updating, or support of the App.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the App is provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis. The Operator makes no express or implied warranty regarding accuracy, completeness, usefulness, safety, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose, availability, freedom from errors, non-infringement, compatibility, or continued provision. The Operator does not guarantee uninterrupted storage, synchronization, export, or recovery of your content.

This disclaimer does not exclude liability for the Operator's breach of its obligations where liability arises under applicable law. Any exclusion or limitation of liability is governed by Section 9, including its express exceptions.

9. Limitation of Liability

The Operator is not liable for damage not attributable to the Operator, including damage arising from your breach of these Terms, improper use, your device or operating system, a network, a marketplace, an advertisement, or another third-party service.

The Operator is not liable for damage caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, such as a natural disaster, power or network failure, cyberattack, third-party conduct, changes in law, or governmental action.

Ordinary negligence only. Where damage results from ordinary negligence (negligence other than gross negligence) of the Operator, its representatives, or persons it uses to perform its obligations, the Operator's liability is limited to actual, direct, and ordinary damage. Only in those cases of ordinary negligence, the Operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damage, loss of profits, loss of opportunity, or comparable loss.

For those cases of ordinary negligence, the Operator's aggregate liability to each user is limited to JPY 1,000 per incident, whether the claims arise in contract, tort, or otherwise. Claims arising from the same event, or directly related events arising from the same specific cause, are aggregated as a single incident. Unrelated incidents are not combined under this cap.

No exclusion or limitation of liability in these Terms, including the disclaimer in Section 8, the limitations on types of damage, and the monetary cap above, applies to damage resulting from the willful misconduct or gross negligence of the Operator, its representatives, or persons it uses to perform its obligations, or to damage resulting from death or personal injury. No such exclusion or limitation applies to the extent it is prohibited by applicable law. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits consumer rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

10. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by applicable law, if your intentional or negligent violation of these Terms, unlawful conduct, or infringement of a third party's rights causes damage to the Operator, you must compensate the Operator for that damage, including reasonable attorneys' fees.

11. Changes to These Terms

The Operator may amend these Terms without individual agreement when the change is in the general interests of users, or when it is not contrary to the purpose of the agreement and is reasonable in light of the need for the change, the appropriateness of the revised Terms, the provision for amendment in this section, and other relevant circumstances, consistent with Article 548-4 of the Civil Code of Japan.

Changes are communicated by publishing on this page the fact that these Terms are changing, the revised Terms, and their effective date. The Operator does not send individual email, push, or in-app notifications of amendments. Where Article 548-4 or other applicable law requires publication before the effective date, the revised Terms and change information will be published before that date.

If a change requires individual agreement or another legally mandatory procedure that publication on this page does not satisfy, it will apply to an existing user only after that requirement has been fulfilled. A change applies from its stated effective date and does not retroactively alter rights or obligations that accrued before that date, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

12. Transfer of Rights and Obligations

You may not assign, transfer, pledge, or otherwise dispose of your rights or obligations under these Terms without the Operator's prior written consent. The Operator may transfer its rights and obligations relating to the App or these Terms as part of a business reorganization or transfer, subject to applicable law.

13. Severability and No Waiver

If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. The Operator's failure or delay in exercising a right does not constitute a waiver of that right.

14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan, subject to any mandatory law that applies to you.

If your agreement with the Operator is not a consumer contract under applicable law, the district court or summary court having jurisdiction over the Operator's address at the time the action is filed has exclusive jurisdiction, as the court of first instance, over any dispute arising from or relating to the App or these Terms, unless mandatory law requires otherwise.

If your agreement is a consumer contract, this section does not impose exclusive jurisdiction on you. The courts having jurisdiction under applicable law remain available. Nothing in this section limits a consumer's right to rely on mandatory consumer protections or to bring proceedings before a court that has jurisdiction under applicable consumer law.
